John F. Kelly Returns to Fort Jackson as Commanding General

Brigadier General John F. Kelly has returned to Fort Jackson, South Carolina, as the Commanding General of the U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson.

Brigadier General Kelly previously served as the Deputy Commanding General of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He also served as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Brigadier General Kelly is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and holds a Master of Science degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the National War College. He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Brigadier General Kelly's return to Fort Jackson is a homecoming of sorts. He previously served as the Commander of the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment at Fort Jackson from 2003 to 2005.

In his new role, Brigadier General Kelly will be responsible for the training of over 50,000 Soldiers each year. He will also oversee the operation of the installation, which is home to over 20,000 Soldiers, family members, and civilians.

Brigadier General Kelly said he is honored to return to Fort Jackson and lead the team of Soldiers and civilians who are responsible for training the future leaders of the U.S. Army.

"Fort Jackson is a special place with a rich history and a bright future," Brigadier General Kelly said. "I am excited to be a part of the team that is shaping the future of the U.S. Army."
